Treeline Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 10, 2026 Developer: Kristopher Madaus Contact: support@treelinefitnessapp.com
The short version

Treeline has no account, no server, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party code. I do not collect your data and cannot see it. Your health data is read from Apple Health, processed on your device, and, for the notes and settings you create, optionally synced through your own iCloud account.

No account No server No analytics No advertising No third-party code

Treeline is an iPhone and iPad app that turns your Apple Health workouts and recovery data into a training-load picture. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

What Treeline reads

With your permission, Treeline reads the following from Apple Health:

  • Workouts, including their routes, duration, distance, and energy
  • Heart rate, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability
  • Sleep, and other health metrics shown on the Fitness screen (such as VO2 Max, weight, and body fat)

You choose which categories to allow in the Health permission sheet, and you can change that at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › Treeline. Treeline never writes anything to Apple Health.

What Treeline stores

Everything below stays on your device or in your own iCloud account.

  • Derived data (device only). A local cache of your workouts and daily health statistics, and the scores calculated from them (training load, readiness, sleep score, stress). This is rebuilt from Apple Health whenever needed and is never synced.
  • Data you create (synced through iCloud). Workout notes, ratings, and edits you make; an optional name or nickname; heart-rate profiles; equipment records; and your settings. If you are signed in to iCloud, this is stored in your private iCloud (CloudKit) database so it appears on your other devices. Only you can access it. I have no access to it and cannot read it.

Services provided by Apple

Treeline uses a few Apple services that may send limited data to Apple under Apple’s own privacy terms:

  • iCloud / CloudKit, to sync the data you create, as described above.
  • Apple Maps, to draw a workout’s route on a map. The map view requests map tiles from Apple.
  • Apple’s location services (reverse geocoding), to work out the time zone where a workout took place. This sends a single coordinate from the workout you are viewing to Apple. It is not done in bulk or in the background.
  • Apple Intelligence (on-device). If your device supports it, Treeline can write a short daily training note. This uses Apple’s on-device language model; the text it is given never leaves your device.

See Apple’s Privacy Policy for how Apple handles data in these services.

What Treeline does not do

  • It does not collect, transmit, or sell your data to me or anyone else.
  • It does not use analytics, crash reporting, advertising, or tracking, and it contains no third-party SDKs.
  • It does not use your health data for advertising or share it with data brokers or other third parties.
  • It does not ask for your email address or any account credentials. If you choose to enter a name or nickname at setup, it is used only to personalize the Today screen and is synced through your private iCloud account like your other settings; I never receive it.

Retention and deletion

  • The local cache is removed when you delete the app.
  • Synced data lives in your private iCloud database. To remove it, delete Treeline’s data in Settings › [your name] › iCloud › Manage Account Storage › Treeline. Deleting the app alone does not delete iCloud data.
  • Data in Apple Health is unaffected by Treeline. Manage it in the Health app.

Children

Treeline is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Your rights

Because I do not hold your data, there is nothing for me to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. Your data is under your control through Apple Health and iCloud. If you are in a region with data-protection rights (such as the EU, UK, or California), those rights are satisfied by the controls above; contact me with any questions.

Changes

If this policy changes, I will update the effective date above and, for material changes, note it in the app’s release notes.
